Janssen Pharmaceutica partner of Move For Africa

05/03/2013

Now that national governments are slashing their budgets for development co-operation, Janssen Pharmaceutica wants to underline its solidarity with Africa. La Libre Belgique's Move for Africa campaign fits perfectly in this picture because both parties share the same mission: make a lasting and tangible difference in the world.

Move for Africa is an awareness campaign, supported by the Walloon Ministry of Education, to stimulate the development co-operation and humanitarian aid to Africa. The campaign specifically targets students in the fifth grade of secondary school in Wallonia. Ten classes, about 100 to 150 students, will be working on specific development projects in different African countries during the Easter holidays. The funds they collect for these projects will go to these projects in full.

It puts the youngsters into contact with all kinds of aspects of development co-operation. The initiators and partners of this campaign, including Janssen Pharmaceutica, want to make students aware of their responsibility as citizens of this world. They also want to stimulate their ability to contribute to the development of a democratic society, as described in the campaign's mission.

Answers to tomorrow's challenges
Janssen feels committed to the future of the younger generation and wants to underline how important it is that they dedicate themselves to creating a better world. It also wants to prepare students for a scientific career. After all, it is up to this generation to provide the answers to the challenges of today and tomorrow. Janssen finds it admirable that students choose to invest their time, talents and energy in a more sustainable world and projects such as Move for Africa most definitely contribute to this.
